The History

In 1873 ship-building and ship-repairing company was founded in Japan. There was an emblem depicted on the ship flags (three diamonds) which is today world known. In 1918 the first truck that became a part of the company's range was introduced, it was named T1. That freight vehicle had passed a 1000 km reliability test and already in 1924 the company puts heavy-duty trucks and buses into production under Fuso brand name.

Mitsubishi Canter

Mitsubishi light-duty trucks history is the Mitsubishi Canter model history. This truck has become the most extensive manufacturing truck whenever produced by the Japanese Company.

Mitsubishi Canter history started in 1962. That was the year when Mitsubishi T720 light delivery truck was designed and prepared for the market. Right the next 1963 year the model that boasted of 4 tons carrying capacity was put on the market. The truck was provided with four-cylinder 2.0-liter diesel engine capable of 68 hp at 4200 revolutions per minutes. In 1968 the model was seriously restyled. It was provided with 75-hp diesel power plant and with a middle class Jupiter truck chassis configuration. Now it was called T90. There is also an extended wheelbase truck featuring gasoline powered engine in the Canter range. In 1972 Canter carrying capacity was increased to 3.5 tons.

In 1973 third generation Canter made its debut. It was T200 provided either with gasoline powered engine that put out 100 or 92 hp or with 80-horsepower diesel power plant.

In 1978 Mitsubishi Canter was once again restyled. 90-hp diesel engine was introduced and a new extended width modification entered the model range.

80-horsepower diesel engine of 1.5 ton carrying capacity modification and a 3.5 ton one with wide cab were introduced in 1980. A truck with a duplex cab was put on the market a year later.

From 1982 Mitsubishi Canter was provided with turbocharged direct-injection diesel engine that put out 120 hp and in 1984 an automatic transmission model came into the market.

In 1985 Mitsubishi Canter exterior was dramatically changed. Power plants range at that time included 110-horsepower direct-injection diesel engine and a modernized 4D32T capable of 130 hp. In 1986 all-wheel drive modification Canter FG was introduced. It had two cabs to choose from, a standard and a wide ones.

The same year all-wheel drive Mitsubishi Canter became the first Japanese truck to have entered Australian Wynn`s Safari Rally.

In 1993 Mitsubishi Canter was once again restyled. The main emphasis was laid on comfort and ease of control increase. Mitsubishi Canter gas engine modification was introduced in a year.

FUSO Fighter

Priveous model's circular and domelike design features were left and emphasised. New TT model seems to be more extended. It is 4178 mm lengthway and 1842 mm widthway now, that is it has become 137 mm longer and 78 mm wider than the previous model. The body is made of steel and aluminium and is provided with ASF space frame designed by Peugeot Company. Not a single Peugeot model featured such a material combination before that. The body is 69% aluminium. Steel elements that make up 31% are located in the automobile's rear end. They assure necessary load distribution between the axles.

At 120 km/h speed and over there is a spoiler moving out of the trunk door appears. This is done so that the the automobile was closer to the roadbed.
